Automation overhead cranes for biomass power plant
In 2020, AEB built a new biomass power plant in Amsterdam to generate green energy. This power plant extracts energy from the combustion of wood that can no longer be recycled. Together with our partner Deman, we built two overhead cranes to transport the wood chips from the warehouse to the incinerator. This redundant system with two overhead cranes guarantees that the incinerator can be fed continuously. Even if one of them were to break down, the other overhead crane would still have the capacity to deliver sufficient wood chips.

Cobot installation with 3D camera in Pharma
For a renowned company in the pharmaceutical industry, we developed a cobot installation to take tubs out of boxes, cut them open and put them on a conveyor belt. This slow and repetitive process was carried out manually by an operator and could be significantly improved ergonomically. A cobot was chosen for the automation of this process for two reasons: firstly because of the low cycle time of the process and secondly because a cobot installation is particularly safe for operators.

3D printing of spare parts
At a large production facility like Arcelor Mittal Ghent, spare parts management is very costly. Most of the time, complex tailor-made parts are used to replace the original part that is only slightly damaged.

ATMS application at Vopak Eurotank
In 2015 two new greenfield tank pits and a loading station with 3 weighbridges were commissioned at Vopak Eurotank. Together with this project, our Actemium ATMS operation and ATMS field operation solutions were succesfully introduced. In the following years a revamping took place: the brownfield terminal of 7 tank pits & 8 loading stations was step by step completely automated and included in the ATMS system. Later Vopak decided to build 3 new jetties for barges and to expand a loading station with an extra weighing bridge.

Vopak Linkeroever tank expansion
Vopak Linkeroever is a state of the art greenfield terminal operational since mid 2008 where Actemium was involved from the beginning in the terminal automation and traffic & access control. In 2021 the terminal was expanded with 8 new tanks for in total 50 000m³ extra storage for chemicals. With 3 piggable lines and 3 high flow pumps (800m³/h), there is a connection with the brand new jetties 4 and 5 (L-jetty). To connect with the existing loading station, 3 pumps were installed for truckloading. At the loading station 6 new loading arms and 3 unloading pumps are installed. In spring of 2021 was the go live.

Simulation @ Rettig
Rettig, Europe’s largest manufacturer of domestic heating systems, was looking for a way to improve the synchronisation of two consecutive production lines. When an initial design using buffering proved not to be cost-effective we developed an innovative mechanical concept with three levels.

Four new reactors
